Shanxi invests $28.77m in rural culture

The Shanxi Provincial Finance Department has recently allocated 194 million yuan ($28.77 million) for the development of local rural culture.

The subsidy consists of 137 million yuan from the central government and 57 million from the Shanxi provincial government. The funds will be spent by 27,370 villages across the province on running cultural and sports events and improving facilities.

An example of how the funds will be used is in supplementing and updating of publications in rural bookstores, and subsidizing free rural film screenings.
