Yangkou port economic zone at Rudong county, Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province has made great efforts to produce positive results on improving local people's livelihood over the past year.
With a total investment of 300 million yuan ($44.45 million), the economic zone has focused on 10 major programs to help improve the rural environment, public transportation, and increase the locals' income.
A new farmers' market started operation at the begining of January this year. The new market, with an investment of 20 million yuan was innovated from a local seafood market and features areas for supermarkets, seafood market and public services, making life more convenient and helping ease the traffic around the area.
The local government also invested 4 million yuan to establish a wastewater treatment center in the area, immensely helping ease the water pollution in the area.
