Three new self-service libraries have recently been set up in Changchun, capital of Jilin province, providing a convenient way for bookworms to take out a book.
The new facilities are located at Changchun Railway Station on Metro Line 1, Changchun Sculpture Museum, and Changchun Injoy Plaza.
The service was first offered by Changchun Library to local residents last year, with two machines serving nearly 10,000 readers over a seven-month period.
Zhu Yaling, deputy director of Changchun Library, said that it will regularly replace books at the self-service facilities –– based on borrowing data.
Around 500 books, 3 million e-books and more than 7,000 electronic journals are available to people using a reader's card issued by Changchun Library, or with a Chinese National ID Card.
