According to preliminary estimation, the gross domestic product (GDP) in 2018 was 90,030.9 billion yuan ($13.6 trillion), up by 6.6 percent over the previous year.
Of this total, the value-added of the primary industry was 6,473.4 billion yuan, up by 3.5 percent, that of the secondary industry was 36,600.1 billion yuan, up by 5.8 percent and that of the tertiary industry was 46,957.5 billion yuan, up by 7.6 percent. The value-added of the primary industry accounted for 7.2 percent of the GDP; that of the secondary industry accounted for 40.7 percent; and that of the tertiary industry has accounted for 52.2 percent. The contribution of the final consumption expenditure to GDP accounted for 76.2 percent, that of the gross capital formation accounted for 32.4 percent and that of the net exports of goods and services was -8.6 percent.
The per capita GDP in 2018 was 64,644 yuan, up by 6.1 percent compared with the previous year. The gross national income in 2018 was 89,691.5 billion yuan, up by 6.5 percent over the previous year.
The national energy consumption per 10,000 yuan worth of GDP went down by 3.1 percent over 2017, and the overall labor productivity reached 107,327 yuan per person in 2018, up by 6.6 percent over the previous year.
On Nov 22, 2019, the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) released revised GDP data for 2018. The main results are as follows: the gross domestic product (GDP) in 2018 was 91928.1 billion yuan, an increase of 1.89 trillion yuan from the preliminary accounting, an increase of 2.1 percent. Of this total, the value-added of the primary industryis 6474.5 billion yuan, accounting for 7.0 percent; the added value of the second industry is 36483.5 billion yuan, accounting for 39.7 percent; the added value of the tertiary industry is 48.97 trillion yuan, accounting for 53.3 percent.
Gross Domestic Product (GDP) refers to the final value of products at market prices produced by all resident units of a country during a certain period of time. GDP is the core indicator of national accounts, and also an important indicator in the measurement of economic conditions and the level of development of a country.
