Xi'an won the titles of "2018 Green Development Demonstration City" and "2018 Eco-City" at the 5th Green Development Summit held in Beijing on Jan 20.
Through keynote speeches, industry dialogues, roundtable forums, etc., the summit focused on green development and building a green future.
In recent years, Xi'an has been making every effort to build itself into a green, eco-friendly, and highly livable city.
Xi'an was listed as one of the top 20 cities (among 169 key cities) in terms of air quality improvement from January to December 2018. According to data from the China National Environmental Monitoring Center, Xi'an had 188 days with excellent air quality in 2018, an increase of eight days over 2017.
The city also implemented a number of greening and beautification projects, and its urban landscape became increasingly green as it added 6.47 million square meters of green area.
To improve water management, the city focused on building a water security mechanism in accordance with the "river chief" system.
In addition, as a pilot city for the promotion and application of new energy vehicles, Xi'an has continuously increased policy support and guidance for the industry, which has helped boost its industrial development.
