Inner Mongolia autonomous region opened 200,000 kilometers of new highway during 2018, representing an increase to the regional network of 3,200 km, according to information released by local authorities, on Jan 23.
During 2019, authorities plan to spend 40 billion yuan ($5.90 billion) on regional transportation infrastructure, with 15,000 km of new highway planned. And 5,000 km of highway are set for improvement works, mainly in rural areas.
