A new greenbelt, with a total green area of 3.35 hectares, in the west of Kangjian Community in Xuhui District is open to public, the Shanghai Landscaping & City Appearance Administrative Bureau announced on Tuesday.
Its location is west to Middle Ring Road, east to Guijiang Road, south to Guijiang Branch Road and north to South Qinzhou Road. There is a 2,500-square-meter artificial lake inside the greenbelt.
Visitors will be able to find sakura, sweet-scented osmanthus, Chinese roses, and water plants along the greenway and the artificial lake, which links with the existing Caohejing River.
The greenbelt is the fourth-phase project of a green corridor along Guijiang Road with a total area of 34.2 hectares. So far the first four phases of the project have been opened to the public with 18.4 hectares, or around 54 percent of the total area.
The fifth and sixth phases of the project are under construction and will be developed together with underground spaces between South Qinzhou Road and Caobao Road for the fifth phase and between Humin Road and South Meilong Road for the sixth phase.
After completion, a footpath lined with sakura trees with a total length of 3.5 kilometers will be set up.
