Shanxi Construction Investment Group signed two wind power project contracts worth $520 million with Vietnam on Jan 21, marking the company’s largest overseas order ever.
The two contracts are for 200mW wind power engineering procurement construction projects in two provinces in the western part of Vietnam.
Once completed, the project will improve the current situation of local power shortages, provide a large number of jobs, and train a group of experienced skilled workers to drive the development of local related industries.
Shanxi Construction Investment Group has been promoting the Belt and Road Initiative for years, having constructed a series of overseas energy infrastructure projects including a 120mW photovoltaic project in Queensland, Australia.
The group signed contracts totaling 7.28 billion yuan ($1.07 billion) outside Shanxi province and in overseas markets in 2018.
