Private companies in Ordos, Inner Mongolia autonomous region, played a significant role in fighting poverty during 2018, according to recent local media reports.

Many local businesses are now part of the Ordos’ government’s official targeted poverty-relief program, with 766 firms taking part last year. And a total of 736 local villages have benefited from the companies’ financial assistance.

By developing new industries and creating employment opportunities, the companies spent 180 million yuan ($26.45 million) on developing the local economy and assisting low-income residents.
