Mandula Port in Baotou, North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region, reported strong growth for 2018, with the total volume of imports and exports passing through the port coming in at 3.12 million tons, reports Baotou Daily.
The figure represented year-on-year growth of 38.07 percent.
The volume of import and export trade hit 1.566 billion yuan ($230 million), a year-on-year increase of 41.98 percent.
With the aim of branching out into new types of trade, the port has constructed a special border trade zone, and will focus on trying to make it a center for the import of meat.
Work has now started on railway logistics parks, port-specific container logistics parks, and a port transit processing project.
