Province to promote methanol-fueled vehicles

According to the Guizhou Provincial Development and Reform Commission, Southwest China's Guizhou province plans to promote methanol-fueled vehicles, including 7,000 vehicles in Guiyang and 3,000 in other cities and prefectures.

Guizhou was listed as a methanol-fueled vehicle pilot area in 2015 and currently has the most methanol-fueled vehicles of any province in China.

The adoption of methanol-fueled vehicles is a key way of promoting industrial transformation, energy production, consumption revolution, the construction of a clean, low-carbon, safe and efficient energy system, and economic development in Guizhou.

Guizhou plans to make innovations in market promotion, construction of supporting infrastructure and tax-sharing related to methanol-fueled vehicles in order to arouse enthusiasm and initiative among companies capable of building a methanol fuel transportation and distribution system and expanding the market of methanol-fueled vehicles.

Guizhou also plans to build and rebuild a number of fuelling stations providing gasoline, diesel, methanol and charging stations.

Guiyang currently has 13 methanol fuelling stations in operation, five yet to open, and 15 currently under construction. These stations will be opened according to demand.
