World Bank funds Shanxi coalbed methane project

A Shanxi coalbed methane comprehensive utilization project, financed by the World Bank, has used funds of $80.25 million by the end of 2018, according to the Shanxi Provincial Department of Finance.

Utilized by Shanxi Guoxin Energy Development Group Co, the comprehensive utilization of coalbed methane project involves construction of two new coalbed methane cogeneration sub-projects and four urban natural gas pipe network sub-projects.

The project had been preparing for the application since 2012 and the transfer loan agreement was signed in 2014. It is now near completion.

Changes in energy transportation, supply and consumption will be advanced and greenhouse gas emissions will be reduced once the comprehensive project is put into service.
