Located in the north of Hailin, 12 kilometers away from Mudanjiang, Hailin Economic and Technological Development Zone is one of the three national economic and technological development zones in Heilongjiang province.
Covering a planned area of 15 square kilometers, it was initiated in June 2002 and was upgraded into a State-level economic and technological development zone approved by the State Council in June 2010. Since then, the machinery manufacturing industry, organic and eco-friendly food industry, new building materials industry and emerging strategic industry in the zone have witnessed significant growth.
Currently, the accumulated investment in the development zone has reached 1.19 billion yuan ($176.01 million), and registered enterprises amounted to 81, with the contract investment of 9.2 billion yuan.
By 2016, the region's GDP totaled 4.6 billion yuan, with an average annual growth of more than 18 percent. Total fiscal revenue reached 800 million yuan, an average annual increase of more than 22 percent. Industrial added value was 3.7 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 18 percent.
Located in the center of the northeast Asia economic and trade corridor and as the core area of Sino-Russian trade processing zone, Hailin is traversed by National Highway No 301 and 201, and the special railway line in the park is connected with national railways, which can directly reach all regions of the country and also Russia. Surrounded by four national first-class ports including Suifenhe, Dongning and Hunchun, it is also only 20 km away from Mudanjiang International Airport.
