China's First Medical Summit Forum on Hyperuricemia was held at Liaoyuan Nephropathy Hospital in Liaoyuan city, Northeast China's Jilin province, on Jan 19.
Hyperuricemia is an abnormally high level of uric acid in the blood and may result in arthritis and gout.
Experts and scholars in the treatment of gout attended the forum, discussing the most efficient and affordable methods to diagnose and treat the condition.
The event was hosted by Fengzhidao, an anti-gout medical research company, and the company's chairman, Wang Jianguo gave a talk on the number of people currently suffering from Hyperuricemia across the country.
With rising living standards, more and more people are now impacted by the condition, with 170 million now living with it, and 35 million of them suffering from gout, according to Wang.
Experts also discussed the advantages and disadvantages of using traditional Chinese medicine to treat gout, highlighting better treatment methods for patients.
