Chongan Temple Pedestrian Street

Covering 18.6 hectares, Chongan Temple Pedestrian Street became a national first-class central commercial area.

Three distinctive tourist routes have been released, covering various attractions in the area and attracting more than 12 million tourists from home and abroad each year.

Visitors can enjoy traditional Wuxi delicacies such as Wuxi xiaolongbao (steamed buns) and beancurd jelly while getting a taste of the cultural atmosphere in Chongan scenic area.

In 2005, Chongan Pavilion was built on the former site of Chongan Temple, being the highest point of the scenic area and a cultural landmark in Wuxi.

The three-floor Chongan Pavilion was built in the traditional architectural style of the Jiangnan area, applying yellow glazed tiles and painting all the walls, doors and windows red. The eaves of the pavilion used the blue pattern of the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), making the whole building grand but tasteful.

The interior of the pavilion was not opened to the public until January 2018. Now the first floor is open for citizens to enjoy tea breaks, and the second floor is expected to be the host site of various painting and calligraphy exhibitions. The third floor is still closed.
