A company in Ordos, Inner Mongolia autonomous region, accomplished a record breaking feat on Jan 18 by completing the installation of the world’s largest gasfier, which weighs 450 tons.
Inner Mongolia Rongxin Chemical Engineering Co is responsible for the impressive feat, which represented a milestone in the course of developing China’s coal chemical industry.
The hoisting of the colossus is an essential part of a glycol and PODME (Polyoxymethylene dimethyl ethers) production program at the chemical engineering company.
Transportation of the equipment, which is as tall as 25 meters, posed a challenge for the company. A professional ferry team spent 33 days transporting the equipment from Dalian in Northeast China’s Liaoning province to Ordos.
The glycol and PODME production program started in August 2017, with a total investment of 7.68 billion yuan ($1.13 billion), and it is expected to be completed by the end of 2019. Once it is completed, the program is expected to bring more than 600 employment opportunities to local residents and generate 1 billion yuan in taxes and revenue.
