It generated 370 million yuan ($54.66 million) in ticket revenue, up 16.66 percent year on year, hitting a new record high.

Apart from travelers from nearby regions such as Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei province, increasing numbers of people from Yunnan, Sichuan, Guangdong provinces and Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region and even overseas visited Mount Wutai last year.
The change was due to Mount Wutai's efforts in organizing more culture and tourism events and improving the quality of services aimed at tourists.
Over the previous year the attraction held a series of experience events where tourists could come in contact with folk customs such as making dumpling and paper-cutting for window decorations.
Customer services and facilities for tourists were made more convenient in the past year. Self-serve ticket purchasing and admission systems were put into use. Over 3,000 new parking spaces, 20 rest rooms, some 100 electric buses and 20 tourist information positions were also added.
