Anshun batik, a traditional form of craftsmanship from Southwest China's Guizhou province, was recently included in the Chinese culture stamp collection released by American and European philatelic organizations.
The 19 batik works are designed by Wang Yao, a master batik craftsman and vice-chairman of the Anshun Batik Association. He learned the batik craft from the famous master Hong Fuyuan in 1987 and has been researching and promoting Anshun batik art ever since.
All the batik works involve landscapes, characters, Buddhism, lotus and animals, which represent major themes in traditional Chinese culture. The stamp collection will be released worldwide and help promote Anshun around the world.
