Zhuzhou High-tech Zone

Set up in May 1992, Zhuzhou High-tech Zone was approved to be national-level high-tech zone by the State Council in November of the same year. Occupying an area of 328 square kilometers, the zone has a population of 310,000. It is located in the Hunan province city of Zhuzhou, which serves as an important traffic hub in the country, enjoying comprehensive traffic networks integrating highways, railways, aviation and water transportation.

Lying in the west of Zhuzhou, the zone is composed of four parks: Hexi Demonstration Park, Tianxin High-tech Park, Dongjiaduan High-tech Park and Jinshan Science and Technology Industrial Park.

Rail transit in Zhuzhou is one of the first ten innovative industrial clusters in China. Focusing on medium-low-speed magnetic levitation (maglev) train, light rail vehicle and D-series high-speed train manufacturing, the industrial cluster in Zhuzhou maintains a high position in the global industry chain.

Serving as a national aviation high-tech industry base, the general aviation industry in the zone has grown rapidly in these years. Its medium, small and micro aero-engine production base, the only of its kind in China, contributes to more than 90 percent of the national market share. As a forerunner in the demonstration and popularization of new energy vehicles, the zone has witnessed a continuous increase of new energy automobile industry. 

In 2016, the zone made 72.2 billion yuan ($10.7 billion) in GDP, and the total industrial output value hit 181.7 billion yuan. The three pillar industries, namely rail traffic, aerodynamic and new energy automobiles generated a total industrial output value of 120.6 billion yuan, accounting for 66.4 percent of the zone’s total number.
