Hohhot, the capital of Inner Mongolia plans to invest 1.23 billion yuan ($181.5 million) in adding 29 new bus lines, with an aim of improving the public transportation and building the city as a modern metropolis with a integrated transit system.
The new bus lines includes seven bus rapid transit routes, five special routes designed for students, and four customized or bus lines.
According to the plan, it will purchase 500 new energy buses and build 100 more waiting rooms, bringing the total number to 400.
With the completion of related infrastructure construction programs in the city, the traffic condition will be greatly improved.
It is expected that the average daily transport capacity of the public transport system will reach 1.7 million people by the end of 2019.
