To boost the development of winter tourism in Shenyang, an ice and snow festival kicked off on Jan 11.
It is a three month-long festival that will run until March.
Activities involving snow games, hot springs, lanterns and temple fairs are scheduled to take place during the festival.
The festival features a frozen landscape sightseeing town covering an area of 150,000 square meters with displays of snow sculptures, ice falls, ice restaurants and wooden cabins.
Starting on Jan 11, visitors can also come see a display of colored ice lanterns, with the largest lantern fair in Shenyang city opening on the same day.
A total of 180 sets of lanterns divided into four themed exhibition areas are on display in an area of 370,000 square meters.
