The municipal government of Hohhot, Inner Mongolia autonomous region plans to invest 1.89 billion yuan ($27.89 million) in 14 major livelihood projects this year, announced the government on Jan 15.
The government will spend more in areas including improving the public transportation, urban landscape construction, medical and health facilities at the grassroots level, as well as increasing subsidies for rural doctors and teachers.
Some 500 new energy electric buses will be added to the city's public transportation system this year. And 29 new bus routes will be launched to serve the passengers.
The capital will also establish 100 waiting lounges, bringing the total number to 400.
Nearly 140 million yuan will be spent in upgrading the medical facilities at the township hospitals. According to the plan, advanced medical equipment such as automatic chemistry analyzers will be equipped at hospitals at the grassroots level by 2020.
The government also plans to promote the drinking water programs by innovating water plants to ensure the safety of water.
To further simplify the administrative procedures, the city will build a comprehensive data platform to improve the household registration management.
Programs on genetic screening for newborn babies will also be a focus of the government. According to the government, it will launch free medical service to help detect genetic rare diseases.
This year, the city is ready to push forward the construction of intelligent emergency platform. By 2020, an emergency network connecting air and land rescue will be established.
