Jinan, capital city of East China's Shandong province, was given the honor of being one of China's top 10 exhibition cities in 2018 at the 16th China Conference and Exhibition Industry Annual Meeting (CCEM) held in Sanya, Hainan province on Jan 12-14.
The award is given to cities which have made outstanding contributions to the development of China's exhibition economy and have achieved excellent results.
In recent years, Jinan city has attached great importance to boost its exhibition economy and also rolled out a series of measures to support its development.
In 2018, Jinan hosted a total of 196 exhibition activities, with 164 being indoors and 32 outdoors. The total exhibition area is about 3,000,000 square meters.
The award will help the capital city of Shandong promote itself and boost its influence in the exhibition industry across the world.
The honors were also awarded to Shanghai, Chengdu in Sichuan province, Guangzhou in Guangdong province and Hangzhou in Zhejiang province.
Jointly hosted by the National Exhibition Cities Office, China Convention and Exhibition Society and China Exhibition Alliance, the annual meeting is the most influential event in China's exhibition industry.
This year's meeting aimed to review the development of the exhibition economy over the 40 years of China's reform and opening up and discuss how to promote the sustainable development of the exhibition industry in an increasingly globalized world.
