The second session of the 13th Fujian People's Congress opened in Fuzhou, capital of Fujian province on Jan 14, releasing the latest government work report.
Pingtan is part of the China (Fujian) Free Trade Zone with an emphasis on furthering opening-up cross-Straits communication, which gained a lot attention in the report.
The document pointed out that Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone has gained great achievements in the past year.
According to statistics, the total output value of Pingtan in 2018 increased by 9 percent compared with the previous year and the general public budget revenue was up 16.3 percent year-on-year, achieving the highest increase rate in Fujian province.
The total import and export volume of Pingtan climbed by 10.86 percent to 5.76 billion yuan ($851.54 million) in 2018 and the disbursement of foreign capital reached $120 million with a year-on-year growth of 84 percent.
