Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, was recently awarded for its achievements in business environment, green development and tourism at the 8th Global Times General Review and the 6th Tourism Integration and Innovation Forum held in Beijing.

The Global Times General Review was held by the Global Times, an English and Chinese newspaper under the People's Daily. The event evaluates business environment based on media communication and attention, keyword searches, GDP growth rate and actual utilization of foreign investment.

In recent years, Guiyang has been taking advantage of the big data industry to promote the improvement of the business environment. The upgrading of government-related applications has also provided higher quality services for companies and individuals looking to start businesses in Guiyang.

Guiyang was also listed as China's number-one all-for-one tourism demonstration city on the Most Beautiful China list released at the Tourism Integration and Innovation Forum held by Xinhuanet, the official website of Xinhua News Agency.

The list evaluates over 1,260 tourist cities and scenic spots throughout China based on 11 indicators: resources, natural environment, development and innovation, integration of culture and tourism, intelligent tourism, characteristics, quality, brand influence, supporting services and public satisfaction.

Last year, Guiyang was able to sustain the development of its tourism industry by pursuing its goal of being an innovative and world-famous tourism city with a great natural environment.

In 2018, Guiyang received 188 million tourists, an increase of 26.68 percent over the previous year. Total tourism revenue reached 246 billion yuan ($36 billion), an increase of 31.23 percent over the previous year.
