Fuzhou, capital city of East China's Fujian province, has been making all-out efforts to promote reform and opening-up by involving itself in the Belt and Road Initiative.
In 2018, the city was designated as a national demonstration zone for marine economic development.
By hosting and attending a raft of trade and investment fairs it had seen increasingly closer links with the countries involved in the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road.
As part of the China (Fujian) Free Trade Pilot Zone, Fuzhou also serves as a test bed for reform and innovation. Last year, the city rolled out 27 innovative measures, with eight promoted across the country.
Meanwhile, it is a spearhead in expanding ties with Taiwan. In 2018, it hosted the sixth Cross-Straits Youth Festival and its Cross-Straits Youth Communication Camp was designated a national base to further ties between the mainland and Taiwan.
The city also issued 68 measures to grant the Taiwan compatriots the same equality with mainlanders in education, setting up businesses, and working and living in the mainland.
