Automobile manufacturing industry achieves output value of over one hundred billion yuan

Economic data from the Nansha district statistics bureau show that in 2018, the output value of the automobile manufacturing industry, the pillar industry of Nansha, achieved over one hundred billion yuan ($ 0.15 hundred billion), an increase of 27.87%. As the first over one hundred billion yuan industrial cluster, the Nansha automobile manufacturing industry contributes greatly to local development.

In recent years, many intelligent and new-energy automobile companies and related upstream and downstream industries have settled in Nansha, such as Pony. AI, NIO, XPENG.

GAC-Toyota sells more than 580,000 vehicles

With the upgrading business environment, GAC-Toyota has been increasing its investment in Nansha. Construction of its third factory, introduction of new vehicle models and development of new energy vehicle have increased overall vehicle production by 36.5% and fuelled the development of the auto-parts industry.

In 2018, the automobile manufacturing industry in Nansha achieved an industrial output value of 103.1 billion yuan ($15.24 billion), a year-on-year increase of 27.87% and 42.6% of the industrial output value of above-scale industrial enterprises, driving the region's economic growth by about 4.7% and contributing about 64% of its total.

Nansha opens the car channel to the sea

With the follow-up investment , Nansha’s automobile Industry will transform and upgrade to new energy and intelligence development models, and become the leading industry in the high-quality advanced manufacturing industry.

In terms of the automobile's channel to the sea, the wharf's commodity vehicle handling capacity has historically exceeded one million, making it the largest hub for domestic commercial goods.

The automobile wharf can accomodate 20,000 commercial vehicles at the same time, and has three berths for PCTC, with an annual capacity of one million vehicles. The Haijia automobile wharf is expected to be put into trial by the end of December 2019. At that time, it will be collaboratively operated with the Nansha automobile wharf. The actual capacity will exceed 1.8 million vehicles, making it the largest international automobile logistics industrial park in the country.

Nansha strives to expand its automobile import business. While introducing parallel imported cars including BMW and Mercedes-Benz, it has also introduced new vehicle models such as the McLaren 720S and Mercedes-Benz S560. In 2018, 13788 vehicles were imported, supporting a positive annual growth rate and setting a new record for annual import volume.
