Songacha River, a branch of the Wusuli River, is the only outlet of Xingkai Lake. Located in the east of Heilongjiang province, it flows through Mishan and Hulin from the southwest to the northeast, flowing into the Wusuli River. It is the boundary river between China and Russia, of which the west bank lies the Chinese cities of Mishan and Hulin.
Because of the temperature and humidity, Songacha River often boasts beautiful rime wonders in the winter. The river freezes every winter before Xingkai Lake. However, once Xingkai Lake is completely frozen, Songacha River, as its water outlet, will no longer be frozen due to the effect of Xingkai Lake's pressure and heat exchange and the lake's low altitude, making it gurgle in the winter.
