Manzhouli, located in the western part of Hulunbuir, Inner Mongolia autonomous region, borders Russia to the north, with a border line of 54 kilometers. It covers 696.3 square kilometers and is an important land port county-level city in North China.

Manzhouli Port is the largest border land port in China, with its counterpart in Zabaykalsk, Russia. More than 65 percent of cargo in Sino-Russia trade is transported through the port.

It is the only international border port composed of railway, highway and airport ports, and the only land port in China that is open 24 hours a day. It is a key hub connecting Northeast China to European countries, winning it the reputation of a Eurasian continental bridge.

Manzhouli rail port was built in 1900. Major imports include wood, crude oil, chemical products, paper, fertilizers, iron ore and synthetic rubber, while exports are mainly light industrial products, mechanical and electrical products, mineral products, petroleum coke, food and construction materials.

In September 2013, the first China-Europe rail freight train passed through Manzhouli Port. By 2018, 32 export routes and 16 import routes through the port had been launched. By Oct 19, 2018, the number of China-Europe trains though the railway port had reached 748, transporting cargo worth $3.4 billion, up by 15.3 percent and 25.5 percent year-on-year.

Manzhouli highway port was approved for construction in 1989 by the State Council and started operations in 1998. The port is capable of handling 2 million tons of cargo annually. More than 90 percent of imports through the port are scrap steel and wood while 85 percent of exports are vegetables and fruits.
