A sports tourism town is going to be established in Kaihua, one of six counties and districts in Quzhou, East China's Zhejiang province, according to a signing ceremony held on Jan 7.
The project is jointly invested and operated by Shanghai Guanghe Real Estate Development Co, Createch Intelligence (Beijing) Technology Co and Runnar Technology (Beijing) Co, an emerging company focusing on integrating running events with the internet and tourism.
With a total investment of 629 million yuan ($91 million), the first stage of the project will cover an area of 168 mu (11.2 hectares), including a sports center, a sports startup incubator, a sports-themed commercial center, and a marathon-themed hotel.
The whole project is expected to finish construction in 48 months.
In recent years, Kaihua county has organized many sports events, especially the annual Qianjiangyuan National Park Marathon, which helps the county attract more sports industry investment.
