Set up with the approval of the Chongqing municipal government in 2002, Chongqing Yongchuan Industrial Park was listed as one of the 34 demonstration bases for national new industrialization in 2016. Lying in the southwest of Chongqing, Yongchuan district enjoys superior geographical location and convenient transportation, with waterways and railways connecting with countries and regions along the Belt and Road.
Occupying an administrative area of 68.64 square kilometers, Chongqing Yongchuan Industrial Park governs three industrial parks. Phoenix Lake Industrial Park in Yongchuan New Urban Area pays great attention to the development of communications equipment, electronic components, and general equipment manufacturing, aiming to be an industrial base for automobile and motorcycle spare parts, as well as a supporting base for electronic information. Gangqiao Industrial Park, which is close to the Yangtze River, the "golden waterway of China", focuses on basic chemical raw materials, as well as non-ferrous metal smelting and rolling. Sanjiao Industrial Park prioritizes developing metal processing, as well as automobile and spare parts manufacturing.
Through years of development, Yongchuan Industrial Park is now home to 105 smart equipment enterprises. In 2015, the gross industrial output value above designated size totaled 76.5 billion yuan ($11.45 billion).
