The opening ceremony for the 30+ International Art and Design Week was held at the Haikou Citizen and Visitor Center on Jan 8.
The event was divided into three parts: four exhibitions, 10 forums and a trade fair. The 15-day exhibitions opened to the public on Jan 9.
Nearly 100 artists were invited to the event to share insights and over 300 selected artworks, including traditional Chinese paintings, oil paintings, wood blocks, sculptures and photos, were put on display. The event is Hainan's first international cultural intellectual property.
The total value of artworks available for purchase exceeded 10 million yuan ($1.46 million), according to incomplete statistics.
The event is expected to strengthen artistic communication and cooperation around the globe, promote the integrative development of Hainan industries and enhance local soft power.
