Taiyuan, capital city of Shanxi province, will replace package delivery vehicles using traditional fuels with ones using clean energy over the next three years.
According to Taiyuan municipal postal administration, all vehicles added to the fleets of package delivery businesses will be ones using new energy or clean energy starting on Dec 21, 2018. The city will accelerate the phasing out of old medium and heavy diesel trucks and outdated gas fuel vehicles starting July 1, 2019.
By 2020, the proportion of vehicles using clean energy for express business deliveries in Taiyuan is planned to reach 80 percent.
Charging stations and maintenance facilities will be constructed in local logistics distribution centers such as logistics parks, large shopping centers and wholesale markets to facilitate the smooth operation of new energy delivery vehicles.
To help speed up the upgrading of their delivery vehicle fleet, Taiyuan will increase related subsidies and strengthen regulation and control of vehicle emissions.
In addition, Taiyuan will further promote the development of multimodal transport using existing roads, railways, airports, and logistics freight yards to build a green urban transportation and logistics system.
