A delegation headed by the joint secretary of India's Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion recently visited Xiamen, Fujian province.
Wang Qiongwen, director of Xiamen convention and exhibition bureau, met the Indian delegation to discuss their attendance at the upcoming 2019 CIFIT.
Wang briefed them on the annual event's development and its highlights for the 2019 edition, noting that in 2018 the event made great achievements in promoting international investment and cooperation among the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa) countries.
Anil Agrawa, joint secretary of the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion of India, said that his country has attached great importance to CIFIT, hoping to further exchanges and cooperation with China and Fujian in more fields with the help of the event.
CIFIT, short for the China International Fair for Investment and Trade, is an annual investment promotion event held in Xiamen.
After 20 years' development, the CIFIT now has grown into the largest, most influential and most comprehensive two-way investment promotion event in the world.
Last year, the fair facilitated the signing of 1,982 investment projects worth 527.5 billion yuan ($76.45 billion) and drew the attendance of more than 120,000 representatives of 1,005 industrial and commerce associations and about 5,000 companies representing 128 countries and regions.
