The annual National Mountain Climbing event was held in Jianglang Mountain, a World Natural Heritage Site in Jiangshan, Zhejiang's Quzhou city on Jan 1.
As the main venue of the national activity, Jianglang Mountain attracted more than 5,000 passionate mountaineers from around China, who expected to admire the city's beautiful landscape and pray for a better life in the upcoming year.
In addition, local government also organized a series of other activities, including an exhibition showcasing body-building nationwide, final of China Skyrunner, a rock climbing competition and a winter swimming competition.
Starting from 1996, the national event has made mountain climbing in the first day of a new year a tradition in many Chinese cities and this year is the fourth that Jiangshan has hosted the activity its its main venue.
