Intl fashion week kicks off in Nansha

The New Year is typically celebrated across the world with fireworks, but in Nansha district, Guangzhou, a grand international fashion event featuring a number of shows was hosted on Dec 30 to mark the special day.

A highlight of the event was the China (Guangzhou) International Model Competition Finals, which was held at the Nansha Gymnasium on Dec 30 with 104 supermodels competing for the chance to participate in more prestigious events, such as the New York Fashion Week.

The competition has been successfully held six times in Nansha and has become a world-renowned modeling event. Since its inception, more than 10 outstanding models have used it as a stepping stone to international success, in some cases becoming spokespersons of famous brands like Prada or even actresses in TV dramas.

In the following weeks, Nansha will host other supporting events, such as air hostess competitions, Latin dance shows, and qipao shows.
