The Second Session of 13th Hohhot Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) was held at the People's Hall of Inner Mongolia in Hohhot, Inner Mongolia autonomous region, on Jan 2.
A total of 315 CPPCC members participated in the session to debate the work of the Standing Committee of the CPPCC Hohhot Committee and a report on how the Standing Committee has handled proposals put forward by committee members since the previous session.
Sun Jianhua, chairman of the 13th Hohhot Municipal Committee of the CPPCC reviewed the work of last year and introduced the major projects scheduled for 2019.
He stressed that the CPPCC Hohhot Committee will focus on efforts to modernize the city.
During the session, the committee's vice-chairman, Sun Qingbin revealed how well certain tasks had been carried out since the previous session, and how the committee had dealt with last year's proposals.
Since the establishment of the 13th Hohhot Municipal Committee of the CPPCC, 607 proposals have been received, of which 571 have been put on file, said Sun Qingbin.
According to him, a large proportion of proposals focused on traditional culture last year.
Proposals to promote the usage of Mongolian characters and the protection of cultural relics were highly valued by local authorities, helping the city's economic transformation and construction of a harmonious society.
