The Ningbo Hangzhou Bay Hospital was co-established by the Renji Hospital attached to the School of Medicine of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, the Ningbo No 2 Hospital, and the administrative committee of the Ningbo Hangzhou Bay New Zone.
The three sides inked an agreement last May to build the hospital, with an ambition to develop it into a high-level medical center in Ningbo and even the entire east Zhejiang province.
The hospital has received the highest investment, at 1.45 billion yuan ($20.9 million), among all the hospitals in the city. It will enter full operation on Mar 1, 2019.
Constructed according to the standards for a Grade A, Class 3 hospital (the highest level of hospital in China), it is designed to have 1,200 beds, and integrate disease prevention and control, maternal and pediatric health care, emergency treatment and sanitation supervision.
It will offer 600 beds, 23 wards, 33 outpatient departments, and 16 emergency departments during the early opening period, with a focus on developing the gastroenterology, nephrology, urology, rheumatology, neurosurgery, gynaecology & obstetrics, orthopedics and general surgery departments.
In addition, 71 doctors from Renji Hospital will be sent to the hospital, together with over 100 medical experts from the Ningbo No 2 Hospital.
Renji Hospital attached to the School of Medicine of Shanghai Jiao Tong University is one of the most influential general hospitals in Shanghai and ranks among the top 20 best general hospitals nationwide. The Ningbo No 2 Hospital is the largest and most competitive Grade A, Class 3 hospital in Ningbo.
