Chinese multinational conglomerate Wanda Group teamed with the US-based University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) to build an international hospital in the Guangzhou Development District.
On Dec 28, the Guangzhou Development District signed a cooperation memorandum with Wanda Group on the 5-billion yuan ($730 million) project.
Founded in 1893, UPMC is a leading American healthcare provider. It currently operates 40 comprehensive campuses, tumor hospitals, heart and transplant hospitals, rehabilitation hospitals and psychiatric hospitals worldwide.

The Guangzhou Wanda Pittsburgh University Medical Center International Hospital is expected to become the highest-caliber hospital of its kinds in China, providing world-class medical services to the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the Pan-Pearl River Delta region.
The hospital will be constructed and operated in accordance with the standards of China's 3A-grade hospitals and the Joint Commission of International Health Institutions (JCI).

UPMC will send world-class hospital management and technical support teams to help manage and operate the hospital, bringing UPMC's best medical resources, technology, service systems and other high-quality resources to Guangzhou to provide patients with advanced medical services and healthcare.
