Putian, a coastal city in East China's Fujian province, in recent years, has taken a series of solid measures to accelerate the growth of private economy, which appears to be paying dividends now.
The city currently has 10 pillar industries, namely, shoes and clothing, electronic information, high-end equipment, textile and chemical fiber new materials, arts and crafts, food processing, medical health, wood, construction and energy.
Statistics show private businesses in Putian have reached 46,748, accounting for 97 percent of the total. They generated 50 percent of the fiscal revenue, offering more than 80 percent of jobs created in the city.
