2018 Overseas Talent Summit highlights Nansha

On Dec 21, the 2018 China Overseas Talent Exchange Conference was held in Guangzhou. On the opening day, the “2018 Overseas Talents Guangzhou Summit”hosted by Nansha district and Guangzhou Municipal Bureau of Human Resources and Social Security was held. The summit themed on the topic of  “The New Pattern of Talent Cooperation under the Development Strategy of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area”.

Cai Chaolin, member of the standing committee of CPC Guangzhou municipal committee and party secretary of CPC Nansha district committee, attended the forum and delivered a keynote speech. In his speech, Cai Chaolin described Nansha as the“ new hub for modern industries, the new hot land for innovation and entrepreneurship, and the new home for living and working”. He also sincerely invites talents at home and abroad to come to Nansha starting businesses and becoming new "Nansha people."

Cai Chaolin said in his speech that this year marks the 40th anniversary of the reform and opening up and the 20th anniversary of the Convention on Exchange of Overseas Talents(OCS). In the past 20 years, OCS has not only witnessed the historical process of China's reform and opening up, but also developed into the first brand of China's overseas talent exchange.

This year is also the beginning of the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong -Macao Greater Bay Area. Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao will work together to build a world-class Bay Area and a world-class city cluster. At such an important historical moment, focusing on the theme of “a new pattern of talent cooperation under the development strategy of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area”, we will discuss the development of talent cooperation, which is of great significance.

Cai Chaolin said that many successful enterprises in Nansha are the result of overseas talents returning to Nansha to start up businesses. Talents and cities have always been mutually successful, and the gathering of talents has promoted the development of cities.

Cai Chaolin revealed that in recent years, the average annual increase of talents introduced by Nansha has increased 50 percent, including more than 20 experts from the National “Thousand Talents Program”, four leading teams in innovation and entrepreneurship in Guangdong Province, and more than 4,000 high-end leading and key talents.

"In the early morning, many overseas students came to the exhibition. The most important things for overseas students returning to China are comprehensive consulting services. Therefore, I am now paying more attention to the talent policy and industrial policy.” Mr. Du from the Overseas Students Pioneer Park told reporters. He now pays more attention on Nansha's talent and industrial policies.

"I am engaged in transportation work. I went to Nansha last year and obviously felt the change of the city. The roads and traffic planning have all been improved. There are a lot of trees on both sides of the road,"said a woman who earlier worked in Haizhu district for a long time. She has also carefully studied the traffic route map of Nansha.

The high-tech products on display have attracted the attention of the audience. This year, Nansha pavilion displayed many high-tech products such as Huakor UAV and Oyi Electronics' e-books. An AI dance machine from the Cloud Walk (a high-tech company settled in Nansha) also attracted many visitors.

In addition, the design of Nansha pavilion this year is quite unique. The main body of the pavilion is a “cruise ship”, which shows Nansha’s future planning, transportation and shipping conditions, talent policy, industrial policies in detail.
