The northeastern traditional industrial base of Jilin is unleashing innovation to revitalize its economy, as shown in its development of the frontier science and technology sectors.

With a strategy that uses innovation as the driver for high-quality growth, the province has made numerous breakthroughs over the past 40 years.

From FAW Group, China's major automaker, to CRRC Changchun Railway Vehicles Co, the cradle of China's train and metro production, whether it's traditional industrial enterprises or emerging high-tech companies, innovation is their common theme.

The Jilin-1, developed by the Changchun Institute of Optics, Fine Mechanics and Physics, is the first series of high-resolution remote sensing satellites for commercial use independently developed in China.
