Ningbo Women & Children's Hospital was recently named a Modern Labor & Delivery Suite Level-Ⅲ, the only hospital in the city and one of 12 in the nation to have received such an honor.
The honor was initiated by Professor Hu Lingqun from the Feinberg School of Medicine, Northwestern University, who planned a public activity called No Pain Labor & Delivery-Global Health Initiative in 2006 to promote painless labor in China.
The expert team of the activity visited the Ningbo Women & Children's Hospital in 2010, 2016 and 2018, and helped the hospital conduct many painless delivery operations.
A total of 25,487 lying-in women had received painless labor at the hospital by the end of November 2018. The rate of women receiving painless labor at the hospital increased from 4.2 percent in 2010 to 74.6 percent in 2017, and 90 percent in 2018 by November.
The hospital boasts an outstanding medical team and advanced facilities for painless labor, making it safer and more comfortable for women to give birth to a child.
The National Health Commission announced on Nov 20 that it will conduct trials of painless labor nationwide from 2018 to 2020, to promote it across the whole country.
