OED Technologies, a high-tech company based in Nansha district, Guangzhou and a world leader in the research, development and manufacture of e-paper displays, recently released some international standards for the industry.

As a new display technology, e-paper displays can greatly reduce the power consumption of a product while providing a comfortable reading experience. They are bendable, ultra-thin and impact-resistant. They have been widely used for e-readers, electronic price tags, electronic teaching materials, wearable products, smart home products, industrial instruments, dual-screen mobile phones and smart bus stop signs.

Since 2010, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has designated OED Technologies, one of only two e-paper producers in the world, as China's representative for the formulation of industry standards for the IEC/TC110 board.

The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) is an international standards organization that publishes international standards for electronic technology. IEC standards cover a vast range of technologies related to power generation, transmission and distribution, home appliances, office equipment, semiconductors, fibre optics, batteries, solar energy, nanotechnology, marine energy and more.

After a number of proposals and international discussions, the international standards for electronic paper [IEC/TC110 62679-2], led by OED Technologies, was finally approved by the IEC International Standards Committee last October and officially released.

Chinese hi-tech enterprises have expanded internationally and successfully led the development of international standards in the display field. This will not only help promote the development of e-paper display technology and the improvement of overall product quality in China, but also make international standards more compatible with China's industrial interests, boosting the country's industrial development and e-paper display industry.
