The curtain rose on the second China Wuchuan ice and snow cultural tourism festival at Wuchuan county in Hohhot, Inner Mongolia autonomous region on Dec 22.
The festival, hosted by the Hohhot Tourism Development Committee and the People's Government of Wuchuan County and organized by culture and sports as well as tourism authorities of Wuchuan county, will last until March 8 next year.
The activity covers a total land area of 200 mu (13.33 hectares), including areas for lantern exhibitions, ice sculptures, and entertainment.
This festival will duplicate the ice and snow cultural atmosphere of the county and the city through the integration of recreation, entertainment, experience and appreciation.
Themed on the culture of the Northern Wei Dynasty (386-534), the Cretaceous Period, the Belt and Road and Russian style castle building, the festival will make Wuchuan a unique ice and snow town. It will boost the local economy and create a world of ice and snow in the northwest.
Various activities including art performances, lantern shows, and ice sculpture contests will highlight the festival, helping set off a new hot spot of winter tourism. Many well-known enterprises and industries will participate in the festival in various forms, making it not only a carnival of ice and snow, but also a business and culture exchange event.
