International media tour begins in Jilin

A media tour organized by the Jilin Provincial Publicity Bureau to promote the province's winter industry got underway on Dec 22.

Some 100 reporters from state-owned media outlets such as Xinhua, People's Daily and China Media Group, as well as mainstream media from China and Russia, will participate in a seven-day tour in the province.

The reporters will be shown around Jilin city, Yanbian Korean autonomous prefecture, Changbai Mountain and Songyuan city after their first stop in Changchun, experiencing the high-quality facilities and rich snow and ice resources in the province including ski resorts, rime scenery, hot springs, Tianchi Lake and winter fishing at Chagan Lake.

Yang Andi, director of the Jilin Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, welcomed the reporters and spoke about the province's leading role in ice and snow tourism.

"It’s like having a date with winter," Yang said. "Jilin has some of the country's most beautiful snowflakes and a type of light powder snow that skiing fans love the most. It also boasts the largest skiing resort in China and the best courses for competitive skiing."
