Children are at high risk of myopia, which has received widespread attention from families and society in general. The following are answers to common problems in children's myopia and suggestions for prevention and control.

Is pseudo-myopia curable?

Pseudo-myopia is actually a spasm of accommodation, which is caused by long-term high-intensity use of the eye at short range, placing the ciliary muscle in continuous tension and contraction, and unable to relax. For this type of myopia, it is possible to restore part of the vision by relaxing, adjusting, looking at the distance, and if necessary, taking ciliary muscle paralysis drugs.

However, it should be pointed out that the so-called pseudo-myopia is just a transitional state of true myopia. Any existing method can only delay the time and progress of myopia, but cannot cure true myopia or prevent pseudo-myopia turning into true myopia.

Can myopia patient give up glasses?

If myopia patients do not wear glasses or use other correction methods for a long time, serious consequences may occur. First, poor eyesight may affect learning and life; second, the increase of myopia degree will not be slower, but only faster; third, the loss of the accommodation function of the lens may cause the patient to be unable to see close objects clearly when wearing glasses. Such patients should undergo accommodation function training while correcting myopia.

Can myopia surgery solve all the problems caused by myopia?

Before myopia surgery, doctors will do a preoperative evaluation to determine whether the patient is suitable for it.

Myopia surgery itself changes only the diopter of the eyeball, but not the potential risk of retinopathy. Therefore, for children's myopia, the primary task is to delay the growth of myopia and avoid high myopia.

Prevention and control recommendations for myopia:

1. Rest for 10 minutes after using the eyes for 1 hour.

It is recommended to take a break and look far into the distance for 10-15 minutes after 40-50 minutes of study to relax the eyes.

2. Maintain correct posture

Children should maintain correct posture. When reading and writing, they should maintain correct posture, and keep a distance of about 33 centimeters between the eyes and books. Children should not read when the light is too strong or too weak, or in a mobile environment, or when lying down and lying on their stomach. When using the computer, children should keep their back straight, maintaining an overlooking angel of about 15-20 degrees, and a distance of 50-70cm from the screen. When looking at the phone, children should lift the phone far away from the eyeball and look at the phone horizontally.

3. Exercise moderately

Parents should encourage their children to participate in various sports activities organized by the school, and accompany them to participate in outdoor activities, especially table tennis, badminton, kite flying and other activities which can exercise eye muscles, and benefit vision health.

4. Inspect regularly

Children should have regular vision inspections. If symptoms of myopia have already occurred, children should receive treatment and correction under the guidance of a professional doctor.
