Enjoying convenient regional locational advantages, the Qinhuangdao Export Processing Zone lies in the northeast of North China's Hebei province. Located in the center of the booming Bohai Economic Rim, Qinhuangdao lies close to Beijing, Shenyang and Tianjin. Approved the establishment by the State Council on June 21, 2002, the State-level zone passed its acceptance inspection on Sept 15, 2003 by eight ministries.
The zone covers a total planning area of 2.5 square kilometers, including a first-stage project of 0.67 sq km, whose main tenant enterprises are in fields of export processing trades, warehousing and transportation.
In 2017, the zone witnessed 12,160 customs declarations for imports and exports, with a year-on-year growth of 173 percent; its total volume of foreign trade reachedachieved 151 million yuan ($21.75 million), up 177.6 percent year-on-year.
The zone, enjoying the highest level of opening-up, provides customers with convenient 24-hour customs clearance services. Aiming to provide investors with the most favorable policies, the zone is expected to be upgraded into a comprehensive bonded zone after the construction of the second-stage project. The upgraded zone will grow into one of the most full-featured areas with special customs supervision and enjoy various preferential policies including tax policies and foreign exchange control policies.
