Nanhu Lake, Jiaxing
(南湖 nán hú)
Nanhu Lake, which means “south lake”, was listed as a National 5A Level scenic spot in 2010 and is a famous tourism destination in Jiaxing, East China's Zhejiang province.
It covers 5.86 square kilometers and consists of Nanhu Park, Yuehe Historic Street and Qiyi Square. The lake is famed not only for its picturesque scenery and traditional Chinese architecture, but also for being an important national demonstration base for patriotism.
Lying in the southeastern part of Jiaxing, it is one of the three most famous lakes in Zhejiang, featuring beautiful scenery, presented mainly at Huijing Park, Huxin Island, Yanyulou Pavilion and Haogu Tower.
In 2001, the Nanhu Lake Tourist Area was added to the list of key national cultural protection units by the State Council.
