Lying at the northern foot of Mount Tai in Changqing, Lingyan Temple is the most important temple of the nation's Four Famous Temples. It was built during the Northern Wei Dynasty (386-534), and the well-known buildings and cultural relics are: Grand Hall, Imperial Book Pavilion, Bell Tower, Pizhi Tower, Tomb Towers, Stone Pillars of Wuhua Hall and the numerous monuments of various dynasties since the Tang Dynasty (618-907). The 40 painted clay rohans from the Song Dynasty (960-1279) in Qianfo Hall are considered the "most famous clays in China". They are carved in vivid and lifelike style. The temple is open from 8 am to 6 pm, and tickets are 45 yuan ($6.55).
